Donor Spotlight: Julia Meredith

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Julia Meredith has been a fan of the Louisville Zoo since its inception. Her family began visiting when the Zoo opened, and she has witnessed the growth of exhibits over the institution's 50-year history.

"My family has been coming to the Zoo since it opened. I have seen the Zoo and the various exhibits grow. It is truly amazing how far the Zoo has come in its 50 years." — Julia Meredith

Julia began visiting as a child and participated in school field trips to the Zoo. This early exposure cultivated her passion for animals and zoological experiences.

"I love animals. I love learning about them and watching them. Getting outside and walking through the Zoo is a great chance to relax. It is a great opportunity to spend time with your family." — Julia Meredith

A Decade of Giving

Julia's support of the Louisville Zoo represents a core part of her identity. For over a decade, she has contributed to the Louisville Zoo Fund to support the daily care of animals. Additionally, she purchases enrichment items from the Zoo's wish list, involving her goddaughters Evelyn and Emilia in the process.

"We give because we cannot imagine there not being a Zoo to enjoy." — Julia Meredith

Julia's favorite animal is the elephant. She and her family selected a large enrichment drum designed for elephants as a gift, which encourages species-specific behaviors and mental and physical engagement. Julia's generosity encompasses multiple animal areas beyond the elephant drum, and she continues planning additional contributions from the Zoo's wish list.
